Recap

Ok, so Clit Fest was amazing! It was the best event I’ve got to vend at so far. There were three days of films, workshops, and bands, so how could one leave with any degree of disappointment? I made some sales; enough to get gas ( it was kinda far from my house) and to shop around and support other vendors and bands at the Fest. Here are a few shots of the first night:

Beret a thon

This is a new type of beret I’m going to start making more of. It reminds me of a friendly mushroom. :)

Gone so long!

I fell of my bike and scratched up my hands, so I haven’t been making much lately. I wanted them to heal, and now they are healed! Any who, during that time I did a couple of illustrations in  watercolor and ink. I really like those two mediums together. My basic design class is a whole lot of fun; I’ll be posting up pictures of that nonsense in some time. I also came up with a new design to put on recycled jackets (custom orders are always welcome). Here is  picture of it:

Also, here are some pictures of some recent illustrations:

It’s True! Vegan Peanut Butter Cups!

This Fourth of July my friend and I made our own peanut butter cups (in your face Reese’s)! Haha, it was WAY easier than I had anticipated and I’ll post the recipe we used so everyone can give it a try!

Here it goes!

Ingredients

Directions1

  1. 1. melt the chips in your microwave, keeping a close eye on them and stirring often to make sure they don’t burn. it should take between 1-2 minutes. add the 2 generous T and stir to incorporate.2
  2. 2. give it about 5 minutes to cool down a bit, it’s easier to spread around when not lava-hot.3
  3. 3. place a heaping teaspoon of melted chocolate in each mini cupcake liner and spread it all over the place with the back of a spoon. repeat with all 12 liners.4
  4. 4. place the chocolate-covered liners onto a plate, into your fridge, to let it all harden.5
  5. 5. meanwhile, stir together peanut butter, vanilla, salt, and sugar. if your peanut butter is anything like mine, it should form a sort of paste that you can start kneading to make sure all gets incorporated really well.6
  6. 6. the chocolate should be hard by now, so divide peanut butter paste into all 12 liners, pressing down gently to make sure the paste goes everywhere.7
  7. 7. top with heaping teaspoon of chocolate [melt it again if needed], spreading carefully so that none of the PB paste can be seen.8
  8. 8. chill in fridge for at least one hour, until ready to devour.

Instead of using 12 cup cake liners, my partner got me some mini cup cake liners; all together we made 50 peanut butter cups! We made them to sell at an event called Riot Grrl Carnival and they did very well. I’ll definitely be making these again. Here’s some pictures of what we did. :)

Today I’m starting my ‘Basic Design’ summer course. It should be pretty fun ’cause it’s with the sam instructor I had for a drawing class and it was a good time. :)

Here’s a dress I made and my first ever coat!

A New Direction.. or Back to the Old?

I’m beginning to go back to my roots of design. I’ll admit I’ve been a little lazy lately when it comes to design and detail. This is going to change, however, as I am falling back in love with spontaneous design that is always being improvised and fun. Here is a couple of new things I’ve made that reflect this new mind set. Also, be on the look out for more designs from recycled materials!

The Mousy Ballerina

And oh yeah, I got my first sunburn of the summer- what a bummer! Although, bike rides in the heat are not to be missed so sunburns ahead I suppose.

Here are some old designs that are re-inspiring me to go back in that whimsy kinda direction:

Custom Orders are always welcome. :)

Truffle Shuffle Ruffle Dress

I had this dress for a while and decided to reconstruct it into something a little more interesting. I removed the sleeves and added ruffles down the neckline. It turned out to be a good little sundress.

On a less exciting note, I have to get new tires for my car today. :( I just got it and I never drive it cause my bike is way superior, but the tires are beginning to peel so I really need to get new ones; I’m afraid to drive it anywhere until I do. Speaking of my car, it’s a Mercedes Diesel class and I can run it on Veggie Oil without a conversion, but is that wise? For anyone who knows about running cars on veggie oil I ask you this: Can I put veggie oil straight into the gas hole with a 300D Mercedes model? Cause I’ve done it before and the car has run fine, but I don’t want to be messing up the tank without knowing it. Should I get a conversion kit installed? Thanks in advance for any questions answered or advice. :)

Roller Derby!

hello! I’ve been pretty busy getting ready for my vending debut at a Roller-derby bout in Corona. I’m coming up with some new designs and I’m so very excited (I’ll post pictures when some are done). For now, I’ve been working on some custom orders and I’ve been dressing up recycled clothes.

Here is a hoodie I made for a friend on Etsy:

Waking up to vintage

This morning I woke up and took some pictures in new vintage finds. Here they are, and they will be up on Etsy quite soon. Also, while perusing in the mini garden created by my grandma and myself, I noticed the first bloom from the poppy seeds I planted a couple months ago. I was so excited!  Pictures of all the morning activities are included below.
